We didn't build Gorilla ATM Security in a boardroom. We built it after watching our own machines get hit — and deciding that the market needed something better.
Why We Started in 2013
Gorilla ATM Security was born in the Washington, D.C. metro area in 2013. Our founders weren't security manufacturers or engineers by trade — they were independent ATM operators who'd been in the business for years and had built up a portfolio of machines across the region.
Then came a rash of break-ins. Multiple machines hit in a short period. Thousands of dollars in cash losses, damaged equipment, and the operational headache of getting machines back online. They looked at the market for a real solution and found that most enclosures were either too expensive for independent operators or weren't built tough enough to actually stop a motivated thief.
So they built their own. Starting with the problems they'd experienced firsthand — smash-and-grab, hook-and-chain, and pry attacks — they designed enclosures with one goal: to make it so difficult and time-consuming to break into a machine that thieves would move on. Heavy gauge steel. Serious locks. Real weight.
It worked. Word spread. Other operators wanted the same protection. Gorilla ATM Security was officially open for business.
A Decade of Protecting ATMs

After a rash of ATM break-ins hit their own machines, the founders designed their first enclosures to solve the problem they lived firsthand.
First Commercial Sales to Other Operators
Word-of-mouth from satisfied operators drove early growth. What started as a solution for their own machines became a product other independent operators needed.
Expanded Product Line
Added the Drive-Through / Walk-Up Surround and Through-the-Wall Fascia models to serve the full range of ATM deployment types.
Relocated to Raleigh, NC
Moved operations to 7500 Precision Drive, Raleigh, NC — closer to manufacturing infrastructure and national shipping routes.
Proven During Civil Unrest
Multiple customer ATMs with Gorilla enclosures survived civil unrest events across the country — documented and shared by customers.
Added Onyx W Wall Mount
Introduced the Onyx W Surround for compact spaces and city ordinance-restricted locations — with the highest cash capacity of any unit.
Still at It
ATM crime is up 15% YoY. We're still here, still building the toughest enclosures on the market for independent operators who need real protection at the right price.
